Proper Nouns – specific names of persons, places, things or animals

Common Nouns – general names of persons, places, things or animals

examples:

Common Nouns Proper Nouns
president Noynoy Aquino
flower Sampaguita
province Bulacan
lion Simba

 

Count Nouns – nouns that can be counted

Mass Nouns – nouns that cannot be counted

examples:

Mass Nouns Count Nouns
sugar pencil
sand marble
butter books
ice cream telephone

 

Noun counters – are words placed before mass nouns

examples:           glass of wine      teaspoon of salt
